Smena cameras: accessible photography
Smena became one of the most widely produced Soviet camera families. Production began in 1939, and its simple construction and low price made photography accessible to millions.
The museum includes Smena 4, 6, 7, 8M and 35 cameras among other variants.
Manual controls taught users the fundamentals of focus, aperture and shutter speed. Straightforward construction and reliability made a Smena the first camera for generations of photographers.
