Kiev cameras: precision and variety
Kiev cameras were produced by the Arsenal factory in Kyiv. The best-known early rangefinders were derived from the German Contax system and were regarded as some of the most sophisticated Soviet cameras.
The museum holds examples from several branches of the range, including Kiev 3, 4A, 10, 15, 17, 19, 30, Vega and Vega 2.
The brand covered precision rangefinders, SLR cameras and compact miniature designs. Early Kiev 2 and Kiev 3 rangefinders are especially valued by collectors for their construction and historical connection to the Contax lineage.
