FED cameras: history of the brand
FED is one of the oldest Soviet camera brands. Production began in Kharkiv in 1934, and the initials commemorate Felix Edmundovich Dzerzhinsky.
The earliest FED cameras were based on the Leica II. The design was subsequently developed through several generations. The museum collection includes the FED Zarya, FED 3, FED 4, FED 5 and FED 50.
FED cameras became popular with both enthusiasts and professional users. Their historical importance lies in the long development of an accessible 35 mm rangefinder system and its later automatic descendants.
