Light meters: measuring light accurately
Light meters help photographers determine the correct exposure. Soviet manufacturers produced many designs, ranging from simple optical instruments to more precise photoelectric meters.
The collection includes Leningrad and Sverdlovsk meters as well as OPTEK and Moskva instruments. Examples include Leningrad 1, Leningrad 2, Leningrad 4, Sverdlovsk 4 and OPTEK.
Optical meters estimated illumination by comparing image brightness. Later selenium-cell models provided direct readings and made consistent exposure easier without requiring a battery.
